Set the pattern before interpreting the hours
An attendance event is a timestamp. Whether it is late, incomplete or beyond a daily target depends on the schedule. Attendify work rules bring schedule configuration into a guided administrative flow and feed the same daily-hours calculation used by timesheets and payroll exports.
Fixed rules use start and end times. Flexible rules use a daily target. Split rules represent multiple daily segments. Roster rules rely on date-specific overrides rather than assuming a recurring working day. Weekly patterns and rotation patterns support recurring expectations where applicable.
Make precedence explicit
Rules can be bound to an individual, a matching group or the company. An employee-specific binding takes precedence over a group binding, which takes precedence over a company-wide binding. Within an equal level, explicit priority and a stable identifier resolve ties. Effective dates determine whether a binding applies.
For example, a company may have a normal daytime pattern while a night-shift worker has an individual binding. A department rule does not outrank that individual binding simply because it was created later. Check the effective dates and selected assignment before explaining a surprising timesheet.
Separate schedule calculations from pay law
Break minutes, arrival/departure grace and daily overtime thresholds affect the configured calculation. They do not decide whether an employer can legally deduct a break or decline payment for unauthorized work. Those questions depend on the applicable contracts and law.
A grace period for classifying lateness is also different from rounding or removing recorded work. Review the resulting minutes and export totals using representative scenarios, including overnight and split days.
Validate the actual worker flow
Attendance-policy settings include geofence and verification requirements, but the mobile app also has capture-side checks. Do not assume every policy relaxation changes the phone’s behavior in the same way. Shared-kiosk availability is separately gated.
Before rollout, preview the target workers, apply the rule through the administrative flow and check the resulting schedule and timesheet. Test a normal day, missing punch, overnight day and effective-date change. Keep the person responsible for payroll policy involved in that review.
